Cady Swann is an ordinary 30-year-old woman with many hidden talents. She has a cat, works in a bookstore, and owns a home. But at sixteen she lost both her parents and watched her baby brother being tortured by demons. So by day it's the bookstore, and at night she stalks the Daemon horde to protect her town of Lula, Georgia. Her dedication is strong but she is beginning to feel that she is losing the fight.

Onto the scene appears Obsidian, who is sent to convince Cady to join forces with the Shikars, a race that has been fighting the Daemon for centuries. The Shikar Alliance believes Obsidian, their strongest warrior, can forge the affiliation with Cady. Their first meeting ends in a heated battle, with Obsidian then healing Cady's injuries without her knowledge.

Against all odds, Cady is attracted to the immortal Obsidian and he to the human woman. Together, they form an alliance and work to close the demon's gateway before the Daemon Horde overtakes Earth.

The action and steamy, passionate sex are more that enough for me to recommend this book. I love to see a competent woman who can lead. The relationship between Cady and Obsidian is very well written, combining the strong personalities and intense sexual attraction. Story has some very inventive sensual situations that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Looking forward to the next adventures of the Shikar race if Obsidian is any example of the hero we can expect.
