"Hard to read Civil War romance"
Cameron Campbell has always led a privileged life. She
spends her days riding her spirited Arabian mare on her
father's plantation. Her father is a senator and gives her
anything she wants. Six years ago Cameron had her heart
broken by Captain Jackson Logan. She offered him her heart
and he laughingly threw it back into her face. She hasn't
been able to forget him in all of this time and now
he's returned to her father's plantation. Jackson has avoided the Campbell plantation for six year
but he can't avoid it any longer. He has a message for
the senator that must be delivered personally. He knows
that he hurt Cameron all those years ago but he can't
forget her. He wonders if she's still the same or if she
has changed since his last visit. War is coming to their world and there's nothing they can
do to stop it. During the coming rough times Cameron comes
to realize that she needs Jackson for more than the help
and safety he can provide her. While Ms. Rogers writes an excellent novel, I found this
one very hard to read. The heroine was just annoying. She
seemed very immature and I couldn't make myself care what
happened to her. The characters were one-dimensional and
the dialogue stilted in places. I'm not sure if I can
recommend this book. If you are a die-hard Rosemary Rogers
fan I'm sure you'll enjoy this one but if you're not and
you're just looking for a good historical romance, I'd keep
looking. Sexual Content: Hard R

SummaryThe drama and passion of the Civil War explodes to life in
the pages of Rosemary Roger's sweeping, sensual new tale of
love divided . . and conquered. Beautiful, headstrong
Cameron Campbell knows her privileged life as a Mississippi
senator's daughter is about to be shattered. Her fine
Southern family has its share of secrets and scandal, and
as her father decides to stand with the Union, long-held
family rivalries lead to cold-blooded murder. But amidst
the devastation, one honorable man is about to show her the
meaning of love . . .
Six years ago Cameron offered Captain Jackson Logan her
heart -- and he walked away from her. She vowed then never
to let another man hurt her that way. But now, as war
assumes its deadly course, Cameron will be forced to find
an ally in this man she loves to hate . . and hates to
love. A man whose strength and courage will mirror her own
as she stakes a defiant stand against slavery. A man who
will face unimaginable danger by her side and show her the
magic of a rapturous love that comes but once in a lifetime.
