REVIEW

"Can love overcome death?"

When Tranorva finds that she cannot accept her lover's death, she decides to begin a quest to find his soul. She refuses to believe her mother, who claims that Elandine's spirit has gone to another place. She begins the journey with some of her Clanmates. They are quite a motley crew, but the care and concern that they have for each other shines through.

Tranorva's love for Elandine becomes a tenuous thread that he must cling to if he has any hope of survival. He latches onto that, knowing that if he releases it he may lose himself. All the while, Tranorva and her Clanmates try to save him. As they race toward answers, Elandine's life repeatedly hangs in the balance. Can Tranorva and her friends manage to snatch him from the jaws of death repeatedly or will death triumph?

Mercenary's Prize was a fantastic entry into Ms. Morgen's Northlanders series. Reading it may be slow going for newcomers to the series. This reviewer recommends reading the first series(Way of the Wolf) in order to get the most complete experience. Ms. Morgen's fantasy world is thrilling and fascinating and well worth your time!

Summary

All Tranorva had to do was cart a dead man half way around the globe to an island no one knew how to find, persuade the King of Faerie to grant her an audience, restore Élandine's spirit to his body, and waive the prohibition against Fey and Mortal marriages.

Right. Simple enough until restoring her family made Tranorva heir to a dead house and a captive people. Now the King of Faerie has set her an even greater challenge. The price of Élandine's freedom is the price of her own, and she must rely on the aide of a Rogue and a thief to clear Élandine's name and bring her people home. Can she trust Balthain to find the truths hidden deep in the heart of Élahandara or does the Mercenary have an agenda of his own?

Everyone has a price...
