"Sometimes small magick can produce great things."
In a family of powerful mages, Drey lacks Talent. She only
commands some small magick. After visiting her family,
Drey ponders on the type of man she would like to share her
life with and comes up with three different types. Finding
a special place on the mountain, Drey executes a ritual in
thanksgiving for "finding this special place and joy in
being alive." What she produces is a man who is a
combination of the ones she created in her imagination.
However, he is not a man, at least not a mortal one, but a
wind spirit. Unfortunately, he now wants to return to
being a spirit, and it's up to Drey to return him, she just
doesn't know how! As Drey works to discover how to return Cyrus to his
natural state, she also discovers that her "small magick"
is developing into something more powerful. When a new
mage comes to the area, Drey asks for his help in
controlling her Power. He agrees, but the price she ends
up having to pay may be more than she is willing to give. This is a marvelous story. Taking place in the Dark Ages,
it's full of magic. An unusual hero and a resilient
heroine make this a great tale. It concentrates mostly on
the heroine, but the scenes with the hero are superb.
Animal lovers, especially those partial to cats, will enjoy
Drey's Mousebane. This one is just as good as the first in
this series. Sensuality: descriptive sex; oral sex. Monogamous sex.
Sexually explicit scenes: 6.

SummaryDrey is descended from a long line of female mages, but she
herself only commands SMALL MAGICK. Her aunt and
grandmother have sent her off by herself to unlock the
power they know lies within her. Frustrated with her
inability to perform even the basics of magick, Drey finds
solace outdoors, playing her pipes while the breeze tangles
her hair and tugs at her skirt. She explores the mountain
that looms above her cottage and finds an isolated meadow
that long ago served a mage as a natural circle. With joy
at her discovery surging through her, she casts the circle
and raises power for the first time in her life. She also
conjures a wind spirit and binds him to mortal form.
Cyrus believes she has called him to pleasure her and
applies himself diligently to the task. Their mutual
delight dissipates when they realize she has no idea how
she called and bound him. Only the mage who bound him can
release him. How can she reverse what she did unwittingly?
While she works to devise a ritual that will return him to
his world, Drey helps Cyrus explore the physical world
while he shows her glimpses of his realm. To her dismay,
she finds herself falling in love with him. That revelation
makes her desperate to send him back to the skies.
Desperate enough to apprentice herself to a powerful mage
with an agenda of his own. Desperate enough to promise him
anything in exchange for the knowledge she needs to free
Cyrus.
