Rayven Smith is the lost Empress of a hidden people. The Aware, her people, were almost destroyed by a mad General (dictator) of a galaxy. Rayven's parents sent her as an infant to Earth to be hidden from the General and his army. Throughout her turbulent life, Rayven knew she was different. A certified genius, people were intimidated by her. As an abandoned infant put through the system, all she wanted was to be loved and belong. When she turned 15, a traumatic event changed her life. Her home was burned down with her foster parents in it, and Rayven was framed for the crime by unknown enemies. What follows is her trail into the underground while she runs for her life from these enemies. In her dreams a black hawk would come to her in times of need and warn her or comfort her when it all became too hard to handle.

Light years away, Draco, the temporary ruler of the few Aware who survived, waits for the time when he can retrieve his mate, Rayven. Rayven is the only one with the power to gather the rest of the Aware from throughout the galaxy and return them to their rightful place. Before Draco can go for her, the General sends troops to Earth to capture her. Her experiences and what she learns from the General shocks Rayven into seeing why she never fit in on Earth. She almost dies before a great black hawk saves her.

This book was hot even though they don't really get into it until late in the book. As a Trekkie, Buffy, and mystical junkie I really got into this book and loved the characters. I recommend it. It had adventure, psychic powers, war and romance. What more would you want!

Summary
