"What you see is not always what you get."
The Quest II - Divided Loyalties by Marilyn Lee
(Sequel to The Quest: Hunter's Passion a short story
in the anthology FOREVER.) Jemi is adjusting to her life in Volter and her
relationship with the large carnivore, Hunter. However,
there is great opposition to Jemi and Hunter being life
mates, so much so that Jemi is in danger. So when Jemi is
abducted, Hunter and friends are inclined to get her back. Divided Loyalties was not really my cup of tea, as I
prefer both hero and heroine to be more human in structure
and I prefer monogamous relationships. This opinion does
not detract from the fact that this is an absorbing and
sexually hot story. It moves along briskly and is quite
action packed and a bit bloody. If the animal form of
lover does not bother the reader, I recommend this story as
an interesting fantasy/science fiction read. There is
enough of a synopsis included in Divided Loyalties
that it is not necessary to have read the first story to
enjoy
this one. Sensuality--NC17: masturbation; blunt language; crude
language; descriptive sex; oral sex; multiple sex partners;
multiple partner sex; anal sex. Sexually explicit scenes: 6. A Matter of Faces by Elizabeth Jewell This was the third year Piper had visited this bar on this
date. Last year she was alone. The year before she was
with Billy -- for the last time. Until tonight, when a man
who looks and acts just like Billy -- but who she knows
without a doubt isn't -- shows up. After a night of passion, he claims he is now hers, that he
now has an obligation to be there when she needs him and he
can be anyone she wants. Is he crazy or is she? Only time
will tell. Then things take a dangerous turn... Talk about dream heroes, this is one that could please any
woman. More science fiction than fantasy, A Matter of
Faces is a truly superior romance with a intriguing
suspense thread. Sensuality--NC17: Masturbation; blunt language;
descriptive sex; oral sex; same gender sex; monogamous
relationship. Sexually explicit scenes: 6.

SummaryThe Quest II: Divided Loyalties by Marilyn Lee
A continuation from "Hunter's Passion" in Forever...
A recent transplant to Volter, Jemi Hunter has heard much
of the mythical home of her shape shifting carnivore lover,
Hunter. He regales Jemi with fond tales of his boyhood
home, which lead her to believe that when she, Hunter, and
his son, Slayer reach Tern Terra, they will live happily
ever after.
However, treacherous plans are in place to prevent Hunter
from returning to claim his rightful place as future ruler.
First Jemi is kidnapped, then Slayer disappears. The trail
of Jemi's abductors and Slayer's last known destination
lead in different directions. Hunter has to decide whom he
will attempt to save first, his only surviving cub or the
woman he loves.
A Matter of Faces by Elizabeth Jewell
When Piper sees Billy in a bar, she can't believe it. Here
is the man she had once loved. She goes home with him, for
reasons she herself doesn't entirely understand. And he's
exactly as she remembers him—touch, taste and scent.
But Billy died two years ago...
Trey, a shapeshifter who can assume any human form, has
been studying Piper for a year to learn who would ease her
heart. Now Piper knows his secret and he is obligated to
protect her in the way his race has done since their time
began. In a sense, she "owns" him.
But the truth brings more than a real-life erotic fantasy
into Piper's life. It also brings danger in the form of
another, power-hungry shape shifter who wants her and Trey
dead.
