"Separated by family, friends, psychotic scientists, terrorists, and aliens."
Bronwyn McGregor and Sean Cullen meet in 1979 when they are
school children in Albany, Georgia. Sean, even as a child,
has always known he is different from other people, and
knows that Bronwyn is and will always be his only love.
Bronwyn recognizes and acknowledges this same fact about
Sean. As the two grow into teenagers, Bronwyn's parents and
friends do everything in their power to separate them.
Sean, who has grown up in an abusive home, learns
surprising secrets about his true identity and what he
really is. Bronwyn's parents, in an attempt to control her
life and separate her from Sean, move her to a Catholic
girl's school in Ireland. Unknown to her parents and to
Sean, Bronwyn is already pregnant with his child. Sean and Bronwyn go through way too much agony and
heartbreak for me, and I finished the book out of morbid
curiosity about what other catastrophic events could happen
to these two people. It was hard for me to comprehend that
parents could be so prejudiced and inhumane to their only
child, or that friends would resort to such brutality in
order to separate the couple. Sean and Bronwyn are
separated by her family, her friends, demons, psychotic
scientists, physicians, terrorist, aliens, etc. The
question finally becomes, is there anyone who wants them to
be together? This book is well written, but because I like to escape
with a good book that makes me feel good, this one was not
for me, even with the HEA ending. However, if you are the
type that likes never knowing what will happen next and
agonizing over the lives of the characters, this book is
for you. Rated R by Amber Quill Press.
