"a smooth tale of an undeniable passsion in a time gone by"
Julie Bradley and Jim Morgan have barely tolerated each
other most of their lives. While their families were
considered the richest in the area, and they had playmates
of each other's siblings, everyone in town knew that those
two were oil and water, constantly bickering. What no one
guessed was that Julie fought with Jim to hide her growing
attraction. Julie was able to control her yearnings, until her father
left her the most valuable of land in the area. Now she
controlled the water rights to both ranches, and while
before her father's death certain things were taken for
granted, with Julie now in control of the land, everyone
wondered just what would come of it. After all, her
dislike of Jim was well known. When her brother off-handedly jokes about them marrying and
everything settling itself, Julie flees. She wants Jim,
but not if he only wants her as a means to an end. Nine years later, Julie returns and things pick back up
where they left off, only she hadn't counted on the sexual
sparks flying between her and Jim. After several nights of
heaven in his arms, she knows she has to go away again.
Only he doesn't want her to, and while trying to stop her,
they have a carriage accident that injures her and crushes
his leg. Now, a year later, she is back for her sister's engagement
party and she finds that her attraction to Jim has only
grown, and this time, he isn't willing to let her walk away
again, not before he has another taste of her passionate
nature. Maybe then she won't want to. With THE CATTLEMAN, her first e-book, Mlyn Hurn weaves for
the reader a world of passion and denial, of love and
letting go. An historical without all the boring details,
THE CATTLEMAN takes you into a world where travel is still
done by horse, and who controls the water rights can make
or break a fortune. Fleshed out and believable, her characters struggle with
many of the same issues we all do. Wondering if we are
loved for ourselves, or for what we have. The longing for
a certain person, knowing they are the only one we will
ever love. The consuming need to tell of our love, but
also the need to protect ourselves. Julie and Jim are more
than characters on a page -- they are well thought out,
true to life, and unpredictable. In THE CATTLEMAN, Mlyn
brings a time gone by to life.
