"A sexy whisper: "Tell me what you want.""
"Tell me what you want." What Genna Monroe wants is to be the youngest partner in
her law firm. Unfortunately, working 80 hours a week
doesn't leave much time for a social life or for romance.
While she does feel hints of loneliness, she is determined
that her career goals come first, then a family. That all changes on a company retreat to New Orleans. While
out for a breath of fresh air and enjoying the lush
magnolia blooms, Genna overhears a moonlight rendezvous
that causes her senses to awaken. Although brief, the
encounter leaves her shaken, and obsessed with the mystery
man's sexy whisper. His voice stays with her, taunting her, creeping into her
thoughts until finally she confesses to her friend Nick
that she doesn't just want the voice, she wants the man,
the fantasy of an unseen lover. Safe, anonymous, and best
of all, it wouldn't interfere with her carefully laid plans
for the future. Unexpectedly, Genna gets her wish. After one night of hot sex with her mystery man, Genna
finds herself trapped in a modern day Cupid/Psyche dilemma.
She wants to see his face, but knows that will end the
fantasy. Meanwhile, her friend Nick is struggling with his
own problems: how to tell Genna he loves her, and how to
confess he is her mystery man. As the web of mystery and
sex unfolds, the readers is drawn right alongside Nick and
Genna. In WHISPER, Nancy Warren brings to life a modern-day Psyche
tale. Genna is torn between her need to see her lover and
the desire for the mystery to continue. The very idea of a
mystery lover, a man who knows your every sexy whim but
whom you could pass on the street and not recognize, is an
incredible turn-on -- the ultimate fantasy, with no
preconceived notions of how one must behave. Overall, the
book is hot and moves right along. Plus the vivid
descriptions of the characters feeling each other, learning
each other in the dark, is nothing short of sizzling. The only problem I had with WHISPER was the use of the
clinical anatomical terms of penis and vagina while
involved in the steamy sex scenes. They stand out amidst
the softer, more romantic terms and mood and jar you a bit.
But within a few words, Ms. Warren's characters tease you
right back into their world. I definitely enjoyed WHISPER for its highly erotic content
as well as its well-written story line. The characters were
smooth and nicely defined and the sex scenes hot and vivid.
