REVIEW

"Fun plot, great sexual tension!"

Zane Masterson has always been the jet-set playboy, not interested in commitment or responsibilities. He's over- educated in everything -- jack of all trades, master of none. He's not involved in the family newspaper business, preferring to let his identical twin brother Grey handle that. Then Grey calls him to complain about how stressed out he is -- a former lover has published a tell-all book about their relationship, a beautiful woman is stalking him for an unknown reason, someone is sabotaging the equipment at the newspaper, the business is not doing well and circulation is down. Zane spontaneously suggests that they switch places like they used to do as kids -- Grey can relax in Zane's pleasure-filled life of New Orleans parties, and Zane will bring a fresh eye to trying to resolve the problems in Grey's life and business. They agree that they will tell no one about the switch -- Zane's chance of catching the saboteur and the stalker depend on everyone thinking he is Grey. Now if he could only tone down his personality and behavior and act like responsible, conservative, workaholic Grey!

Toni Maxwell has been so focused on getting her clothing design business off the ground that she has let her personal life stagnate. Now she wants to get back in the swing and find a new romantic attachment. However, she does not want the Senator who proposed to her after two dates -- there's no chemistry between them, his reasons for wanting to marry her are all practical and don't include love. But he's deaf to her repeated "No", and because he's done some favors for her family and her father is trying to get a job with him, Toni has to find a tactful way to make the guy no longer want her. She decides that creating a sex scandal will both enliven her social life and make a politician back off from her! And who better to use in her scheme than the newly notorious Grey Masterson, CEO and Editor of New Orleans' second largest newspaper and the star of a B- actress's racy autobiography. So she sets out to meet Grey, and finds that he isn't at all like she expected and that she is very much attracted to him. Of course, she doesn't know that Grey is not really Grey . . .

The development of the relationship between Zane and Toni is a lot of fun. Zane is a master of "anticipation . . . is making you wait" while Toni is always in a rush to 'get to the point'; he takes great pleasure in showing her how to build and build the sexual tension to an incredible high. Ooh, the sex in the kitchen scene -- what they did is a personal favorite of mine, always makes me shiver and melt! And don't miss the trampoline sex! And the sex on horseback! Gee, it seems like Ms. Kearney managed to pick most of my favorite fantasies.

However, despite the fun plot and great sex, I didn't care for the hero and heroine very much. They both came across as self-centered, uncaring about the impact of their actions on other people. Zane did things as "Grey" that he knew his brother would not approve of and that would embarrass or cause problems for the real Grey in the long run. Toni embarked on her scheme to stalk Grey and create a scandal without any concern about how that would affect his life and business. And I'm not fond of Big Secret plots, and Zane and Tori spent the whole book hiding information from each other. But everyone's reading tastes being different, if these are not things that bother you then do indeed pick up this book and have a grand time with the parties and action and very invigorating sex!
