"When sex really is magical"
Simon is in a battle with an evil entity. He is strong
enough to send it from the material plain, but not to
banish it completely. It was still there, waiting to break
through. Professor Simon Parkes is hot, as in a major babe. Beth
Graham first met him at the bookstore she worked in. As an
occult researcher, he bought some interesting books. Simon
does a lot more than just research the occult, though. He
is a Guardian. Beth finds herself immediately drawn to Simon and invites
him for dinner. When he comes, they find themselves so
attracted that waiting for intimacy is not an option. And
Beth discovers that she has never really been made love to
before Simon. For Simon, his main concern is the evil entity and the fact
that it is getting power from murder victims -- victims he
feels responsible for. Soon Beth is drawn into the battle,
when she somehow intercepts a vision meant for Simon. Yet
Simon tries to keep her at a distance for her own
protection and because she distracts him from his
Guardianship work. When the entity starts interfering in the
material world, it brings a danger to everyone. Simon will
die if he attempts to fight it alone, but all his help
seems to be blocked. There must be someone who can assist
him... SEX MAGIC is an excellent story in which the hero played
the leading role. I found this very much to my liking. I
felt the heroine to be intelligent and strong, and was
pleased that she was not easily swayed from her own
beliefs. I rather liked the fact that Simon and Beth jump
right into intimacy. No dilly-dallying around for them.
The sex scenes are very pleasing. I could have done with
fewer spells and less spell-casting detail, though, except
for the sexual ones. Though the entity does some gruesome
things, the scenes are well depicted without being
excessively grisly. Though this has the makings of a dark
romance, it isn't. It has some very delightful humor in it,
which keeps it from being dismal. Not a book you'll want to
start unless you have the time to finish it, as you won't
want to put it down. Sensuality: R. Oral sex; descriptive sex; masturbation.
