REVIEW

"A warning voice in her head may save his life."

The dream was so real that Cassie Majors found herself getting ready to dial Art's number and warn him against Lida -- before she realized she didn't know an Art or Lida! She is listening to the news at breakfast when she realizes she does know, in a very distant way, people by those names -- Senator Arthur "Art" Hornsby, presidential hopeful, and Representative Lida Chatham.

Wynn Harmon knows that Senator Hornsby is headed for trouble, possible even life-threating. As Hornsby's "consultant", he needs to warn him. He also knows he's being watched. To outsmart these watchers, he will have to depend on -- his cleaning woman. This just happens to be Cassie.

Cassie is surprised that Mr. Harmon is home when she comes to clean his house. While cleaning, Cassie starts hearing a voice in her head. It's not long until she determines it's Wynn and that he wants her assistance in helping the Senator. The problem is, they are not the only ones with this gift of telepathy and the other guy is definately not a good guy.

As they work together to save the Senator and outsmart the bad guy, Wynn discovers that being important is not as significant as whom you're important to.

Treva Harte has yet to disappoint me with one of her stories and WHY ME? is no exception. I especially liked this hero. He reminded me a bit of those heroes that made Andre Norton's early books my favorites. The heroine is bright and fun to get to know. The bad guy is bad, but there is not a lot of pain and cruelty depicted. I really liked visitng with all the charectors and was sorry when the story was over.

Sensuality: R. Some blunt language; oral sex; anal sex; fairly descriptive sex.

Summary

Cassie knows it's crazy to listen to the voice in her head. Should she warn the leading contender for the presidency that someone she doesn't know wants him dead? Then again, who's going to believe a housekeeper... Wynn Harmon is more than just an eccentric client. He's exotic and aloof and incredibly sexy. Unfortunately it's also possible that his voice is the one putting these disturbing thoughts in Cassie's brain to begin with. Now the bad guys are chasing them down with guns and Cassie must decide if she can afford to trust Wynn with her mind--and her heart.
