At a lawyer's retreat in New Orleans, Genna Monroe inadvertently comes up on a private garden where two lovers are having a tryst. Genna can only hear them whispering and they don't know she's there. There's no way she can leave without them knowing she's there so she sits very still until the woman is unexpectedly called away. Genna cannot believe she gets very turned on by what she hears. After all she's a control freak and not a voyeur. All she wants is to make partner and then she can try and pursue a lasting relationship with a guy.

As she's leaving the garden, very embarrassed by the whole thing, she sees fellow lawyer Nick Cavallo smoking a cigar. She asks him if he's seen anyone leave the garden. Nick looks a bit taken aback by the question but tells her no. After all he has loved Genna for years and even broke off his engagement to Genna's best friend because of his feelings for her. What Genna doesn't know is that the man in the garden was Nick.

Nick finally gets Genna to tell him about her adventure in the garden and comes up with a plan to seduce Genna and to get her to admit that she can and does have feelings for him. He dresses as Neptune at a costume ball and whispers to her all night long. He refuses to tell her who he is and when they sneak off to her room, they leave the room in total darkness while they have the most amazing night of their lives. Before he leaves, Nick asks Genna time and time again if she wants to know his true identity and each time Genna says no. After all this will only be a one-night stand and then all will go back to normal, or will it?

This was one sensual book. I read it in a matter of hours because I simply could not put it down. Nick is such a hunk and knows what he wants. Now if he can just get Genna to give up some of that control she's so used to hanging on to and let herself go with him. Can Genna trust herself and Nick enough to do that? Nancy Warren is one of my favorite Blaze writers and this book is one of the many reasons why!
