"Very suspenseful mystery"
When Cassidy Atkins shows up at Jake Cochran's home, he's
very surprised. Ten years ago was the last time he had seen
her. Her father seemed to have had plans for her that did
not include a boy from the state orphanage. Cassidy
appeared to agree with these plans and left for college
without a backward look. Now a successful lawyer, her
father is dead and Cassidy has found some records that she
feels Jake would want to see -- records pertaining to his
two younger sisters and his long dead parents. When a call to a phone number from these records brings
life-threatening danger down on Cassidy, it's Jake to the
rescue. Now they are on the run from mysterious pursuers.
Thrown together by these circumstances, Cassidy finds the
boy she determinedly kept as arms length and thought of as
a brother is now a man. Not just any man, but one she is
developing very un-sisterly feelings for. As for Jake, he
never thought of Cassidy as a sister. The desire he felt
for her when he was eighteen is now back in full force. And
though he senses that Cassidy now views him in a different
light, this is a bad time for that sort of distraction. Fast moving and very suspenseful, this story will keep you
turning the pages. It is a clever mystery and not just a
suspense. Jake is a great rescuer of damsels and, though he
has a poor past, is not irritatingly bound down by it.
Cassidy is an intelligent and strong heroine, but not too
strong. It is fun to see her as the seducer in the
relationship. Not a real sensual read, it does have it's
moments. The first in a trilogy, the mystery is not solved at the
end of the story, so beware, you will certainly want
to read the next two in the series, "Hidden Hearts"
and "Lovers in Hiding". Personal notes: This was a really great story, but I didn't
like it all that much. Why? Because it's a nail biting,
hair twisting (I do a lot of that) suspense. These kinds of
books always make me nervous. I must admit I prefer books
to tie up loose ends and this one leaves them dangling --
to be continued in the next book. Of course, I will
certainly now be reading the next two books! Sensuality--PG13 Sensual tension, but very little sex;
oral sex, but all sex is fairly non-descriptive.

SummaryHe'd opened his heart to her.

documents Jake needed to uncover secrets of his past, she
wanted to help him in his search. Except her well-meant
efforts put them both in mortal danger. Forced to work
together to elude their deadly pursuers, they couldn't
ignore the attraction that shimmered between them. But when
passion turned to love, Cassidy risked everything to
