"Utterly Charming and Delightful!"
This book is utterly charming and thoroughly delightful. I
had a hard time putting this book down once I started
reading it. ZoÎ Smith is a halfling. What this means is she's
half mortal, half Protector. The Protectors are an old
race of people who have a little something extra in their
genetics. It is rumored that their ancestors were Gods and
Goddesses. ZoÎ tries hard to upgrade her status to full-
fledged Protector but this means she has to fill out an
application and take a test at midnight on her twenty-fifth
birthday, which is fast approaching. George Bailey Taylor, ex-detective and now private
investigator meets ZoÎ while she's working. She's a
librarian. Sparks immediately fly, literally. ZoÎ has a
problem with her five senses being a halfling. The more
ZoÎ is in George's company the more she's attracted to him
but ZoÎ's mother, Tessa left ZoÎ's father before ZoÎ was
even born because of who he is. Can ZoÎ risk the same
thing happening to her one true love or should she give
Taylor the benefit of the doubt? ZoÎ was my very favorite character but I will admit
that Elmer, the ferret has found a place in my heart! ZoÎ
is feisty, adorable, charming and fights for what she
believes in. Plus the fact that Deena and Hoop from THE
CATS FANCY make a cameo appearance in this marvelous book
made me enjoy it even more. I look forward to Julie
Kenner's sequel to this fabulous book.
