REVIEW

"refreshing, sizzling erotica fantasy"

I absolutely love those old 1950s B-flicks set it in Outer Space, so I guess I'm already set up to enjoy this kick arse, sizzling debut of Sunny (one name like Cher!). She penned a Sci-Fi Fantasy erotica that shows a tremendous amount of talent in her debut book. Her editor must be high on her, because there are several more Mona Lisa books already in the offing. This is fantasy remember, so suspend your questions and just kick back and enjoy.

A humanoid race called the Monère came to Earth from the moon 4,000 years ago. These "moonie", Children of the Moon are ruled by "Queens". These female have the ability to summon the moon's rays and sort of regenerate, empowering them to live long lives ala Queen of the Damned. Totally to die for males called Gryphons, protect and serve them-- and boy do they "serve" their Queens. Oddly the Queens are not nice to their "drone males", but then think along the lines of nature, where the drone males are there to be workers and impregnate females and little else. Queens often kill them after sex.

One night, Lisa, a young ER-nurse, treats one of the Gryphons at the hospital where she works. In the process, she discovers she is part-human and part-Monère, but also she is the first Queen of Mixed Blood. Her human blood makes her able to withstand the sun. Naturally the bad Queen who abused the Gryphon, comes to see Mona Lisa as a threat to her power and sets out to destroy her.

Sunny is a lively writer; she eschews all the mind-numbing self-doubts found in some tales, and gives you pedal to the medal erotica fantasy, that is fresh, engaging and a damn fun read. Nice to see a book in the erotica-fatasy genre that has genuine story to back up the sizzling sex scenes.

Summary

A smoldering debut novel exploring the passion, hunger, and danger that can break loose in the moonlight.

From the time she was a child, Mona Lisa knew she was different—but she never knew how different until a man of otherworldly beauty appeared during her night shift in the ER. Gryphon is hurting and hunted and he attracts her as no man ever has before. He is a Monère, one of the children of the moon—and what's more, so is she.

Long exiled from the moon, the men of the Monère serve—and mate with—imperious Queens who can channel the rays of their far-off homeland. Gryphon believes that Mona Lisa is a Queen—perhaps the first of Mixed Blood ever known. But her introduction to the nighttime court of the Monère, simmering with intrigue, casual lust, and calculated cruelty, is far from smooth.
