"DRIVEN is one hot read!"
If you've read Megan's PASSION MODEL, you might remember
the taxi driver who took Gemma and Declan to safety.
DRIVEN is his story of finding true love. Once again, Del is saving Linna Fortense. After working
all night, the last thing she wants to do is walk, which
is exactly what would have happened if Del hadn't offered
her a free ride. At one point in time, Linna was of the
ruling class in NewCity. That was before her violent
husband "killed" her. Upon arriving in the hospital, she
was considered legally dead and the doctor had an
assistant he was training and decided to make Linna
a "mecho", half human, half mechanized. With all the
trouble the ruling council is creating for mechos, Linna
decided to declare herself a Kompanion, a Pleasurebot if
you will, made for sex. So far, Linna has managed to pull
it off, but she knows her day is coming. With the ruling council cracking down on off-world visas,
Del knows his day is coming as well. Since he is from off
world, Del doesn't make as much as a citizen of NewCity
does. Del has been attracted to Linna for quite some time.
However, as a Xanderran, Del knows once he has sex with
any woman, he will be bonded to her for life, unable to
have sex with anyone else. This is the reason he left
Xanderra in the first place. His parents were trying to
push him into a match he wanted nothing to do with, and so
he left. Now he's on Earth, where drugs are legal and sex
is the most widely used form of recreation. Linna takes care of her personal needs and goes to sleep in
the Kennel. When she suddenly wakes up, she realizes
something is wrong. It takes her a minute to figure out
all the power is off. She decides to go outside to see if
she can find out what's going on. When she goes through
the door, it automatically closes and locks, leaving her
out on the streets. This is when she realizes there is no
one else outside, everything is dark and the announcement
being repeated over and over again is "Code Red". Linna
knows Security Ops will be out soon and rounding everyone
up. Where can she go? She eventually finds her way to
Del's apartment and passes out. After she's had something
to eat, the two of them begin to tell each other about
their lives. The next thing you know, they find out the
Security Ops is conducting a person by person identity
check. Will they be able to escape? Where will they go? How will
they get off the planet and where will they end up? Will
they become bonded? DRIVEN is a fantastic science fiction story! Megan Hart
has done a wonderful job of bringing her characters to
life. I really loved Captain Lunavoss, a Saurian who lives
for sex, and has the body to match. We have the unique
opportunity of following these two and everything they
face on their journeys. Of course, Linna ends up proving
herself to Del repeatedly and her mouth creates a bit of a
problem on Xanderra, where women are supposed to be meek
and mild and let their mates protect them. This is a
highly erotic ride across the galaxy that I highly
recommend reading!
