"Light historical romance based on the old fairytale"
Set in 18th century England and told in first person, the
story opens with the marriage of 12-year-old Lady Constance
to 14-year-old Duncan Blakley. Immediately after the vows
had been said, the two are pulled off to the bedchamber to
consummate the marriage before witnesses; however, they
fall asleep. Duncan is not ready for marriage so he leaves his new wife -
- without so much as a good-bye -- and travels to the
Continent to sow his wild oats. While he is gone Constance
celebrates her marriage anniversary for six years and in
the seventh year Duncan secretly returns. While Constance is off to visit her sick grandmother she
happens upon a stranger with the same Prussian blue eyes as
her husband. The stranger introduces himself, claims to be
lost, and asks for Constance's assistance. As they walk
Duncan stirs up a conversation about her estranged husband.
Eventually she acknowledges her attraction for him but does
not want to cheat on her husband. What happens after this
point is interesting. Overall I enjoyed this fairytale as a light read, although
I was a bit irritated by the fact that Constance did not
recognize Duncan when he returned and Duncan expected she
wouldn't. I think under the circumstances most people would
recognize their spouse. That aside, I thought the
characters were interesting, the plot was good, and the
story well written. Readers will enjoy this light romance. Rating: Spicy/Carnal Reviewed by Angela Black for Sensual Romance.

SummaryWhat blue eyes he had! The better to melt a maiden's heart.
What chiseled lips he had! The better to fan desire's flames.
What strong hands he had! The better to touch her as no one
had before.
Constance Blakely's marriage was never consummated before
her husband abandoned her for a Continental tour. What's a
resentful and curious maiden to do when a devilishly
handsome "wolf" offers to show her what her husband would not?
