Lani Simms is a reporter for the 'City by the Bay' a San Francisco magazine. She loves what she does. Her next assignment is to find out as much as she can about the smuggling of illegal immigrants across the border from Mexico into southern Arizona. She had arranged with a friend to stay a local family's ranch so she could interview anyone who had trouble with illegal immigrants crossing their lands. Lani was considering moving to Tucson for a fresh start after her divorce from the verbally abusive jerk that had wrecked her self esteem. The last thing she wanted was another relationship, so why did the guy in the next seat of the airplane look so good. The next thing she knows shehas agreed to have dinner with him. But that is where it will end.

Rick McAllister, a Border Control Intelligence agent, has been chasing a smuggler for several years. He knows that he is getting close. Rick lost his wife years before and has never had a desire to get into another relationship -- that is, until he meets Lani. Everything about her attracts him. He has only one dinner to convince her and so far it not working.

Much to Lani dismay, the ranch she is staying at is Rick's home that he shares with his mom and step dad and small son. Can she learn to trust Rick after what her ex-husband had done to her? Will Rick be able to protect both Lani and his son from the smugglers? Can he catch the man he has been chasing all this time?

I wished I had found someone like Rick when I was looking for a man. He is the perfect hero, father, and is a caring man. This is a great addition to the Wild Series. Ms. McCray has the ability to show the readers all the emotions of her characters so that you feel their pain. I loved that Rick was the perfect mate for Lani. Don't pass up any of the Wild Series, but especially WILD BORDERS.

Summary
