"An enjoyable and quick read"

Claire Parks spent most of her childhood being deathly ill and has finally gained her health. Her wealthy father has kept her sheltered, but she has now decided to go out on her own. She even has a new job where no one knows that she's from a wealthy family or about her childhood traumas. One night she accepts a coworker's invitation to go to a local bar. Claire has led such a sheltered life that she has no idea what she is in for.

Lieutenant Tyler "Bud" Morrison has been trying to make a connection on a case he's working. He's just about to give up on waiting for his connection when he spots Claire. Immediately he sees that she doesn't belong in this meat market. When an overzealous jerk won't leave Claire alone, Bud steps in and offers her more than just his protection. They spend the weekend together but find that it's not long enough for both of them. Will they be able to make a life together? Will they be able to overcome all of the obstacles in their way?

I found this to be another great story from Ms. Rice. Her alpha hero was strong without being overbearing. He was able to show his feelings without losing his alpha personality. The heroine was the perfect mix for the hero. She was intelligent and stayed that way throughout the story. The plot was enjoyable and made this a quick read that I finished in one sitting.

Summary
