"Great characters and gripping realism dealing with sensitive subject."
Cynthia "Cyn" Potter was abused as a child and repeatedly
told that she was no good. Palmer Oaks, her alcoholic
mother's boyfriend, was her abuser and as she developed
into a young woman he started to show more and more
interest in her body. She stopped Palmer from raping her
and ran away when she was 17. Cyn turned to prostitution
and saved all of the money she could. After five years, she
headed for Visitation, North Carolina, and a brand new
life. Cyn was almost to Visitation when Preacher Bruce
Kelly stepped in when she had a confrontation with a truck
driver who had given her a ride and was expecting favors
from her in return. Bruce was also headed to Visitation and
took Cyn the rest of the way and helped her get on her feet. Cyn had some serious issues with trust, having never had
anyone to trust or look out for her before. She couldn't
believe how kind everyone was to her. Cyn was especially
confused by Bruce. He was very attracted to her, but
wouldn't act on his urges. She had never known a man who
didn't think of his own sexual needs first and foremost.
Bruce eventually convinces Cyn to marry him and she finally
knows the warmth of a man's love, but evil has followed Cyn
to Visitation. Someone wants to make Cyn her own and will
stop at nothing to have her. Has Cyn's childhood tormentor
located her after her escape years before? Can the love she
and Bruce have survive this threat? The characters in this book were very well written and very
realistic. The subject matter may be a little controversial
to some, but I doubt that anyone who reads Ms. Foster (or
any other adult romances) regularly will have a problem
with it. I felt the emotions of the characters and rooted
for them throughout the book. The secondary characters make
a strong impact on the story and I am very anxious to read
upcoming stories about those characters who are still
searching for their own true love. As with any Lori Foster
story, I give a strong recommendation. Ms. Foster writes
with gripping realism and her heroes are always so utterly
male that I find myself wishing I could be a character in
one of her books! Explicit sex, oral sex. Reviwed by Laurie Damron for Sensual Romance.
