REVIEW

"Scottish Werewolf Love"

Mona Kincaid knew nothing of her heritage beyond her father's ranting and raving, but she still found herself heading off to Scotland when her grandmother died. She finds in that small, sleepy village, that her grandmother was someone more beloved than she could have imagined... and that the old woman's delusions of shape-shifters and ancient legacies weren't as imagined as she could have wished.

Into the trembling, off-kilter Scottish town comes Adrian Darkwood. Alpha werewolf in his own right, Adrian travels to find the source of all werewolves. In this small town, he'll find more.

He recognizes Mona as his mate immediately, but isn't given the leisure to explore their fledgling relationship as he'd wish. Power struggles among the wolves and destruction of human property and life rapidly become Mona's problems. Humans and werewolves must come to a new agreement before both are ripped apart...

FERAL HEAT, book four in the Moon Lust series, is a delightfully sexy volume that dips into werewolf politics, ancient lineages, were-human peace accords and more. Set in a small Scottish town, the focus is clearly on the relationship that develops between the hero and heroine. The story ties in loosely with the other volumes in the series, but it is not necessary to read the other works to understand the events portrayed in FERAL HEAT, or sympathize with the characters. The sexual aspects of the story are prominent and well described, emotionally engaging and true to character. Werewolf aficionados will automatically sit up and take a peek, but FERAL HEAT is a book that goes beyond the werewolf label and reaches into the realm of contemporary mystical fantasy. King's development of her werewolf's world is proceeding nicely. My only niggling issue was with the heroine who, it seemed, was free as a bird waiting only to fall into the hero's warm hands and be plucked away from her boring, endless, vacuum of a mundane life. Besides that, a dishy hero and a dicey interspecies political situation are always attention grabbing. A wonderful read.

Sensuality Level: This book has been rated "E-rotic" by the publisher.

Book 4 in the Moon Lust series

Summary

Adrian Darkwood, exotic and powerful alpha werewolf, has finally come to the end of his lifelong quest. He has found the true lineage of all werewolves. But all is not well in the small town of Applecress, Scotland. A centuries-old pact has been broken between human and werewolf, and retribution has been paid in blood.

Mona Kincaid has dwelled in the shadow of her family's legacy all her life. Now, tragic events have brought her forth to protect a town of strangers thousands of miles away. She doesn't have time for an affair with the darkly sensual man who is following her every move. She doesn't have the time for his wicked kisses and hot embraces, even as she wonders at the sharpness of his fangs and the growl in his voice.

Adrian and Mona have found far more than they bargained for. Mona must come to terms with her family's heritage and the town that depends solely upon her and Adrian must save his mate from the oldest werewolf pack gone feral...before it's too late.
