Veronica(Roni) Andrews had lived a hard life. Her mother died when she was young and her father was a two-bit criminal who always had someone after him. The only steady thing in her life was Taber. He had been her fierce protector as long as she could remember. At sixteen, her dreams and fantasies had changed and centered on Taber. He was all she thought about. Now that she was older she had hoped to get Taber to notice her as a woman. So after a kiss she waited for him to come back to her that night.

Taber is destroyed when Roni sends him a note saying she doesn't want anything to do with him. Over a year later he sees her being mistreated by reporters because when he kissed her he had left his mark on her. Now whether she wants him or not, he had to find her and protect her from both her father and the Council. Now he would also have to explain about being part of feline breed. He had not realized that when he had lost control and kissed her, he had also marked her as his mate.

Roni and Taber go in a mating frenzy that cannot be stopped. The more they explore their craving the more danger is building up outside the compound. Can they get over the betrayal they felt when each received a note saying the same thing? Will Roni be able to handle the feline side of Taber?

THE MAN WITHIN is a great addition to Feline Breed series. Lora Leigh has a great capacity to create characters that draw the reader into their lives. The story does leave the reader eager waiting for more additions to this series. Taber is a strong character with a soft spot for one person, Roni. Roni has only had only one person to lean on since her mother's death, Taber. You can just feel that they need each other from the very beginning. This is one hot and spicy tale that you won't want to put down.

Summary
