"Hot in the city!"

Liz Marsh is a good girl from a wholesome East Coast family. She's been living in New Orleans and is engaged to be married to a man her parents approve of. The wedding date is approaching quickly but her fiance has been spending a lot of time away from her. Although he tells her it's work related, she suspects it's not. Liz decides to hire a private detective to follow him and find out if he's been seeing another woman. However, when she meets detective Jack Wade she didn't expect him to be so handsome and sexy.

Jack Wade is not interested in an emotional relationship and he certainly doesn't mix business with pleasure. After his mother abandoned him and his father, he watched his father suffer the pain of a broken heart. Jack vows never to allow that to happen to him so he enjoys women only for their physical charms. When Liz walks into his office and asks him to take her case he turns her down. He has worked his way up to corporate cases and no longer takes "cheating" partner cases. However, Liz is aware that he finds her attractive and uses that fact to get Jack to change his mind.

Jack agrees to take Liz's case, which begins in a sexy strip club and ends in a passionate romance that won't be forgotten.

This story is as hot as its New Orleans location, and most importantly--the sex sizzles. Lacey Alexander has a crisp and refreshing writing style and this book demonstrates her excellent fiction development skills. I especially enjoyed how she skillfully incorporates the French Quarter into the story backdrop. If you've been to the French Quarter you'll feel as if you're there again and if you've never been there this will be your first trip. Anyone who reads this book will definitely want to read books two and three of the Hot In the City trilogy. Bravo, Ms. Alexander!
