Tampa homicide detective Mackenzie "Mac" Nighthorse is after a killer. So far, two men have been killed, their bodies found bound in submissive poses. Mistress Violet has spent years coming to terms with her need to be dominant sexually. The first night on her own as a dominant, she sees him, an alpha male with submissive tendencies. What an intriguing combination. This would be no easy submissive to tame. He would always be the type to test the limits of his Mistress. This could be the man Violet has been looking for. One she could have outside the world of the D/s clubs. She must choose carefully, as Violet has a secret that could scare away most potential partners.

Mac goes undercover at The Zone, the ritzy and very exclusive D/s club that the two victims belonged to. Although Mac isn't the physical type the killer prefers, he intends to familiarize himself with the Mistresses who ply their skills at the club. Mac finds himself drawn to a delicate female Dominant. Will he be distracted from his case by the lust he feels for Violet? Will Violet succeed in tearing down the walls that no Mistress has breached before?

Although I find the world of control and submission foreign to me, Ms. Hill draws the reader into the BDSM universe of mind games. Control is so much more than physical; it is mental as much as anything. Even if you're not big on this lifestyle, the story is a meaty one, with a real mystery to be solved. There are a couple of significant plot twists that should shock even the most astute readers. NATURAL LAW isn't an easy read, but it is a story that will linger in your mind long after you have turned the last page.

Summary

Mackenzie "Mac" Nighthorse is a highly respected homicide detective and a career cop. There isn't a dangerous situation that can back him down.

However, the personal becomes uncomfortably entangled in the professional when he goes undercover in a high class BDSM club as a male submissive to find a Dominatrix who is winning the trust and then murdering her chosen partners.

When his path crosses Violet Siemanski's, he realizes he's found a Mistress willing to be his ally in finding the murderess. But Violet is also going to shatter Mac's shields and make him question who he is and what he wants, a challenge more disturbing than any case he's ever worked.
