REVIEW

"Returning home is sometimes hard to do."

Hannah is owner of a nightclub, which she wishes to sell. She cannot until she marries, per the will left by the previous owner, her pseudo aunt, Rebecca. This is something she feels she can never do, for she is flawed. No man will wish to marry her. Much hinges on her marrying and it will all be explained--in the letter Rebecca left for her, which she will receive...after she marries. It includes the location of the Threshold. Now Gnaegi, from across the Threshold, insists she must return with him to the archaic world where she was shunned, to restore the balance--so he claims.

Widower Sheriff Adam McGreggor has been spending much time at the hospital with his grandmother, who has leukemia. Though Gran is ready to die, Adam isn't ready to be alone, for she is all the family he has left. Gran doesn't want to leave him alone, which is why she keeps urging him to date. When he goes to collect his drunken friend from a nightclub, he finally meets a woman he just might want to date--Hannah. When he helps rescue her from being manhandled by Gnaegi, Adam finds himself involved in a situation beyond any he could have imagined. There are secrets about Hannah--and himself--that Adam will find hard to believe. Yet his future, that of the world over the Threshold, even his grandmother's life, depends on Adam's acceptance of these things and his willingness to stand by Hannah.

"Beyond the Threshold" imaginatively blends the heroines Amish type beliefs into a fascinating paranormal romance. The world of the Threshold is a marvelous creation. Adam wears a Stetson and calls the Hannah darlin' and I loved it. Hannah is innocent yet strong and wise. How she sees herself is totally believable. The ending was fantastic.

Sexuality: Non-descriptive married sex. Rape in the past tense.

Summary

It didn't shock Sheriff Adam McGreggor to discover the owner of the local seaside nightclub was once part of a sect. Hannah Holt's entire appearance and attitude just didn't fit her profession. Her reluctance to press charges against an assailant that left her battered and drugged, however, did shock Adam to his core. Even more jolting was his instantaneous attraction to this woman who fought his every advance.

But Hannah has a secret he cannot begin to fathom ... she is from a parallel world....
