Alonso is now living in New Orleans. There are quite a few Vampires already in New Orleans. They have a society of sorts and a nightclub. The nightclub is protected by a spell so no mortals can see the entrance. Alonso Santori is an ancient Vampire; he was "turned" six hundred and fifty-five years ago. He can still remember the event as if it was yesterday. Alonso is Italian. His family went to England during the black plague and he lost his whole family, including his wife. As he was attempting to drown his sorrows, he ran across a man who invited him to enjoy some women with him. Well, it turns out Lucius is a Vampire and he kills both women. He gives Alonso a choice. Either he can become a Vampire and be a companion for Lucius, or...

Alonso became tired of being around Lucius and moved to New Orleans. Lucius kills his victims, Alonso doesn't. Alonso is in the nightclub with some of his friends when he hears a voice in his head asking for help. He knows his maker is in the vicinity. He goes to the source of the call and knows immediately the woman calling him is his life-mate. He has been searching all his many years for her and he finally found her! The only problem is, Lucius wants her as well.

Even though DESCENDANTS OF DARKNESS: ALONSO is a short story, we get an intriguing look into the society of Marianne LaCroix's Vampires. From the moment Jolie and Alonso meet, the sparks are flying all over the place, and never stop. The attraction between the two is immediate and fierce. This story will leave you wanting more, which Marianne LaCroix already has planned with further books in this series. I can't wait for Lucius' story!
