"Visit a Community of paranormal beings"

Katriena Isadora Thomasina, or Kit Alexander as she's more commonly known, is a doctoral candidate. When she's offered a chance to work with Nobel Prize winner Carl Roddenberg, she accepts an interview even though it's scheduled at midnight. On her way to the interview she's attacked by two assailants and manages to kill one of them before making it safely to the building where her interview is scheduled to take place.

Mikhail "Michael" Sergevich is a renegade of the Community, a group of supernatural beings who have lived for centuries among humans without killing them for blood. However, Michael has resumed his old hunting habits by killing and by creating others like himself who will follow his lead. Unfortunately, he didn't know that Kit is a 3rd degree black belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do. When she is attacked she handles herself well and it results in the death of his "childe". Now Michael wants revenge.

When Kit arrives at her interview she tells Carl Roddenberg what happened. He instantly believes her because he is a member of the Community. He is also a vampire. He wants to protect Kit and educate her about who--or what--she really is. With her help and other members of the Community, Carl tries to prevent Michael from killing more innocent people.

Ms. Walder has written a creative paranormal story about non-humans. I liked the idea of a community of werewolves, vampires, and other types of beings living in peace among humans. While the story is well developed and started out action-packed, after Kit had to kill in self-defense her character became arrogant. She kept referencing how strong she was and how she would kill again if she had to. Her dialogue throughout the rest of the story made her sound too quick to kill again and I found this distasteful.

Summary

Lions and Tigers and Vampires, oh my!

Katriena Isadora Thomasina (Kit) Alexander wasn't the type to jump at shadows, to run from a fight, or to let other people solve her problems. But when she's assaulted one night, she takes refuge at the highly secure medical research facility that was her original destination.

Doctor Carl Roddenberg M.D., Ph.D. is the director of the facility. Under his care and tutelage, Kit must come to terms with what she really is. But love has other plans for these two.
