Marine biologist Isabelle King has loved the ocean her entire life. She has come to Paradise Resort to explore the ocean surounding the Caribbean island. When Isabelle sees what she thinks is a man swimming in the far distance, she swims out to meet him. She nearly drowns when acute appendicitis strikes, but someone saves her.

Dax is a Guardian of the sea, a human with extraordinary abilities. He has desired Isabelle for years, so he cannot help but reveal himself to her. When she nearly dies swimming to him, Dax heals her and returns her to shore. But he can't stay away. So he checks into the bungalow next to Isabelle and introduces himself.

Isabelle knows that Dax seems vaguely familar, but can't say why. The incredible attraction between them ignites into a burning inferno. Can Isabelle act on her passions without involving her heart? She's vowed to never fall in love and end up alone as her mother did. Dax is everything she's ever dreamed of, but she knows that he's not quite human. It's physically impossible for a man to dive without an oxygen tank for as long as Dax can.

Although Isabelle has many questions, their mutual passion is stronger than her thirst for knowledge. Has Dax found a woman who will accept his way of life and his world? He fiercely hopes so. Isabelle and Dax are on a collision course for heartbreak, with neither one willing to make sacrifices to keep their love alive. Will they be doomed to live their lives alone, without the other half of their souls?

PARADISE DISCOVERY is a departure into the paranormal for the Passion in Paradise series. Dax is a wonderfully sensitive hero, risking the wrath of his brothers to woo Isabelle. Although the sudden acquiescence (sans compromise) seems a bit abrupt, this is a story to read and treasure. Ms Burton has left us with the potential of many more stories to come. After all, what about Dax's brothers? They deserve a happy ending of their own. I'm sure there will be many readers eager to volunteer for the job.

Summary

But when she discovers a sexy stranger named Dax, she can't help but feel the physical and emotional attraction. Dax is hiding something. After all, he dives without an oxygen tank and has capabilities no human should have. And how does he know so much about her? It's almost as if she's connected to him, and that scares her.

Dax opens up new worlds for Isabelle that she never even dreamed of. But Isabelle will have to fight her fear of giving her heart before she can embrace the unknown future with Dax.
