"What if your lovemate turns out to be an alien?"

Etaoine je S'henhess, along with her sexmate Teilar je Ruthmea and the rest of the group from Reatar, have been on Earth for over one hundred years. Etaoine is now Erinna Burke and she's in charge of a magazine which chronicles extraterrestrial occurrences. Teilar is Preston Spenser and a very wealthy stockbroker in New York. Erinna is in New Hampshire investigating another sighting of a UFO. Erinna is hoping that she'll be able to catch a ride with the aliens to her home world. She's given up hope of ever finding her lovemate. Just as she's filling up the gas tank of her vehicle, she catches a glimpse of a man doing the same. She can't believe it! It's the man from her vision, her lovemate! She can't believe it's the same man and decides to keep on her way.

Donal Brannon has some experience with aliens himself, and none of it good. He's been abducted several times since the time he was ten years old. He happens to see Erinna at the next pump over and recognizes her. Since he's in the middle of writing a book about his experiences with the aliens, he decides to follow Erinna, hoping she will agree to work with him. As he's following her, he notices a black car come out from a side road and run Erinna off the road. When he hears gun shots, he floors it. As an ex-SEAL, he knows how to take care of himself and quickly subdues the two assailants. He eventually catches up to Erinna and they end up spending a very hot night together.

The two of them decide to work together. Erinna recognizes Donal as her lovemate, but has problems with him because of his distrust of aliens. Donal is attracted to Erinna, but feels she's holding something back. He doesn't trust her. As they conduct their investigation, they face danger from Erinna's pursuers. They eventually get caught by them. In order to save them from being taken by the aliens, Erinna will have to shapeshift. Will she do this, knowing she'll be risking any kind of a relationship with Donal?

This is a great adventure story, reminding me of the X- Files with all the aliens and abductions going on. This story grabs your attention from the very first page and holds it all the way through. I really love how the relationship between Erinna and Preston has continued and matured and how Preston has finally accepted Erinna will never love him. We still get to see a little into the Ailunnean culture with all of Erinna's abilities, including the golden glow people with Ailunnean DNA get during lovemaking. I'm hoping Preston's story will be next in the series. I would really love to know what happened to the other four Ailunneans and can't wait to read their stories.

Summary

Shapeshifter Etaoine of S'henhess is a hunted creature. Her people are hiding from the other advanced races of the galaxy.
