"Gambling for a good man."
Ethan Peron is at the gambling table when Patrick Gallagher
loses his family home, fortune, and daughter to an
unscrupulous man. Ethan is aware that Gallagher's daughter,
Kathleen, is an innocent and he knows what will happen to
her if she is married off to the winner. He offers to pay
off Gallagher's debt in return for the winnings. Of course
he has no desire to be married, even though he's attracted
to Katie, so he starts searching for a decent man for her. Ethan finds a good man for Katie--his brother Alexander.
Alex is excited about marriage and starting a family and
agrees immediately to the match. Unfortunately, Alex proves
to be sexually impotent and cannot perform his marital
duties. Both Alex and Katie try to hide this fact from
everyone until its revealed to Ethan, who steps in again to
save the day. He donates his sperm in the usual way in
order to impregnate Katie with an heir of his family's
bloodline. Ms. Dubois is a talented writer. The characters in this
book were well developed and the dialogue was not stilted.
However, the plot and character motives were a bit
unbelievable for me. How could a man as astute as Ethan
think that a marriage such as the one he arranged would
work? Furthermore, how could Katie not tell someone about
such an important marriage detail? I don't believe readers
will be totally disappointed with this story, but they may
come away feeling dissatisfied if they're expecting a
romance. Reviewed by Angela Black for Sensual Romance. Rating: Erotic. Sensuality: anal sex, explicit sex.
