"Will she open her well-guarded heart to the man from Atlantis?"
Scientist Stephanie "Stevie" Reynolds loves the ocean. She's
been kept away from her passion for far too long by events
out of her control. Like any good citizen, Stevie reported
the underwater drug cache she came across, not realizing
that her life would be forever changed as a result. Treated
first as a suspect and then taken into protective custody,
Stevie's life is no longer her own. Although she knows
better, she can't stay away from the ocean and her work.
When she sees a merman, Stevie believes that's she's been
underwater too long. The merman is real, and he saves her
life. Adonis has been banished from Atalantium for one full year
as a result of his bringing as outsider to their world
without permission. His year is nearly up when he sees
Stevie and falls for her. Adonis plays the hero to her on
many occasions -- including once before they even met
face-to-face. Adonis longs for a partner to share his life,
but inbreeding has led to a ban on Atalanteans marrying each
other. Stevie and Adonis desire each other immensely. But they have
two different goals in mind. Stevie has seen relationships
turn bad, so she has no interest in anything serious. Adonis
wants a life partner, a wife. His loneliness is palpable. In
between fighting off the drug kingpin's goons, will Adonis
win over Stevie, or will her determination to never love
drive him away? NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER is the second in a planned trilogy around
the people of Atalantium, the reality behind the legend of
Atlantis. Like the first book in the series, the story is
seen exclusively from the heroine's point of view. However,
Adonis' feelings were fairly well expressed through his
actions. Readers should probably read the first novel, BRIDE
OF ATLANTIS, for more explanation on the Atalanteans and
their culture. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of Ms.
Morin's series, MAIDEN OF ATLANTIS, coming in October. Sensuality: Rated Carnal by the publisher. Explicit sex;
sexually explicit scenes: 3.
