Dr. Chloe Evan had spent her childhood hearing tales from great-grandmother about wolf-human hybrids that stole women from their beds. Her great-grandmother had loved a wolf-man, but he left her and she had never gotten over it. Chloe had always desired the same kind of love, always believed the stories were true. She wanted to find a man- wolf for herself, it was the reason she studied wolves as a zoologist.

One night while sleeping at her uncle's house in the woods, she is woken by three wolves coming through the patio door into her bedroom. When the alpha male crawls into bed with her, she figures her life is over. But all he does is sniff her as if looking for something, he doesn't harm her in any way. But it doesn't stop her from being turn on by him lying on her. When the alpha male is challenged by a beta, Chloe is able to grab her tranquilizer gun and dart the youngest male of the group.

Damon Caine is the alpha of his pack. Luke, his twin, and Lee, his youngest brother, live with him. They must find mates to continue the existence of their pack. But Damon wants a true mate, he is torn between his wolf side and his human side. The wolf part of him demands he take Chloe because she is in heat, but his human side knows he will hurt her with their coupling. While he is trying to make up his mind, his brother Luke is trying to steal Chloe for himself. Then his youngest brother is also infatuated with her. What's a wolf-man to do?

Will Caine convince Chloe to love him for what he is? Will Luke claim Caine's mate before him? Is Caine just the kind of man Chloe has been waiting for?

CAINE is very intense novel with a lot of areas that might offend some readers. This is a whole new look at bestiality. I found it an interesting read, full of alpha males. Ms. Edward's humor does lighten up this tale. I wish it had been a little longer so there could have been more of a demonstration of Caine's and Chloe's love before their mating. Some of the sexual acts are violent, but true to the story. If you enjoy wolves this is the read for you.

Summary

She's fertile. And Caine needs a bitch in heat.

As an alpha male of a wolf human hybrid species, Caine knows it's his responsibility to sire the next generation of cubs for his pack. The animal in him can smell when the female upstream can conceive and this part of him has no qualms about mounting her with or without her consent.

The man in him, however, isn't quite so willing to do that.

Dr. Chloe Evans has come home to help reintroduce a timber wolf pack into the mountains where she grew up. She also hopes to record some of the legends concerning a hybrid species of wolf that reportedly once lived alongside the people of the Appalachians. Animals that possessed very seductive and tender human emotions and thoughts, but very brutal and instinct driven needs and desires. Animals like the one she's always dreamed of finding for a mate.
