KING OF HEARTS is a captivating romance. Ms. McCray writes wonderful characters that are both interesting and sympathetic. The sex — explored mainly from within a consenting D/s relationship — is HOT. A variety of fantasies are encountered, including voyeurism and group sex. There is some darkness in the story. A lingering shadow that keeps the book from being too fluffy to bear and, though the shadows aren't fleshed too much in the novel, that thread promises to be one of the links that ties the WONDERLAND series together. It is also to be mentioned that the heroine is described as a 'larger woman' and that some part of the story revolves around Alice's body image — in a positive way. Overall, KING OF HEARTS is an enticing, well-rounded novel that bodes well for the future of the WONDERLAND series.
