Beltane is here. The celebrations will be starting soon. And what happens, but that her step-father, Agravain, demands her presence. Exactly not how Godiva planned on starting her day. She goes to Agravain and he proceeds to tell her that she will marry an old man the next day. Her refusal is adamant. Agravain won't budge and tells her that it doesn't matter what she wants, the marriage will take place. Her companion, Cecily, takes Godiva back up to her chamber. Godiva finally manages to get her to leave and tells her to send her maid, Angelet. Godiva tells Angelet that she wants a man for the Beltane celebration. Angelet, who has been teaching Godiva the old ways, will see what she can do.

Kerrich has been hiding out. He's been in Coventry for too long now. It's time to move on, but he's been getting quite a bit of information on Agravain. If he can manage to retain his freedom for two more days, he will finally be free. Then he can challenge Agravain. Agravain killed his mother and father and then sent him to be a serf. All to get their land and titles. Kerrich has vowed revenge and is posing as a merchant here. He's enjoying the crowds when an older woman comes up to him. She calls him by name and tells him that she needs him to celebrate the Beltane with a very specific woman. No one here knows his name, he's using an alias here in Coventry. He knows that if he doesn't do as she wants, she will inform the guards and so much for his revenge.

Angelet manages to get Godiva out of the castle and get her together with Kerrich. Who does Godiva end up with? Does Kerrich get his revenge?

This is a very hot, erotic take on the old story of Lady Godiva riding nude through the streets. I was caught up in this tale from the very beginning and was quite surprised at the ending of it. This story definitely puts a twist on the old tale, and a very hot twist at that. The characters are all very believable, right down to Agravain's arrogance. The story is filled with action, the sex is hot, and the setting is realistic. This is one that really belongs on your list if you like hot medieval tales.

Summary

Lady Godiva has eluded her controlling stepfather and his ever-present contingent of guards to take part in the Beltane festivities. She meets a strikingly handsome peasant who isn't all he appears to be but her stepfather finds her and in a fit of fury decides to punish her. Will she ride through the streets of Coventry naked at noon on a crowded market day or will the peasant come to her rescue and safeguard her honor?
