"Futuristic that ties up the 3-part series."
Nellie Kan is the daughter of Abdul Kan, her husband
Kerick's mortal enemy. She's afraid to tell him the truth
about her father but she knows that he'll find out from
someone else soon if she doesn't tell him everything. She
has been working on a cure for the virus that is
decimating their planet and turning all of those infected
into monsters who don't even recognize those they love.
She knows she's close to a cure but there are several
other secrets she has been keeping that may ruin all of
her chances to finding a cure. Kerick has been on the run ever since he escaped from
prison. His one bright point in his life has been his
wife, Nellie. His childhood was marred by the death of
his mother from the virus. Ever since then, he and his
brother have had a hard time learning to trust. He can
tell that something is bothering Nellie but she's
hesitating to talk to him about it. He doesn't want to
lose her but he doesn't know what secrets she has been
keeping. This is the third in the series and it can't stand alone.
I highly recommend reading the first two books before
reading this novel. In this novel, the loose ends left
with the first two books are tied up. As with all of Ms.
Black's novels, this one has a rough edge to it. I enjoy
reading about the characters in this series and the
secondary ones just add to the story. Sexual content: NC-17; sex with alien.
