"A unique take on the creation of Vampyr"

Things have not been going well for Ezri LeBron lately, and the day is just getting worse. She warned Delmont about beating her. Now she was using the same tool to bury him that she had used to kill him. This was not how she planned her life. She's broke, stuck in the Arizona Territory, and ready to give birth at any time. She used to have a good life, living in the big house with her white father and black mother. When the War Between the States came through, her parents were killed and she was taken and whipped. Finally, they let her go to wander the streets. Then Delmont took her in. Delmont was pretty much useless, unemployed, and he beat her all the time. He was always trying to kill anything that mattered to her, right down to her last dog, Papa Loa. Then Delmont got it into his head to leave Louisiana and head west, and here she was.

The hole is finally big enough for Delmont. Once she dumps him in the hole and begins to cover him up, she notices an odd smell. There's a man, and a cat! They're fighting. Just as she begins to realize that they are fighting over her, she goes into labor!

Annie Windsor has written quite a short story in REDEVENCE: THE EDGE. I really love the author's unique take on the creation of the Vampyr and how it is woven into this story. The heat sizzles between Ezri and Chant. The action is non- stop and hot. I can't wait for the rest of this series to come out!

Summary
