"The last in the Gentry siblings series!"
It seems Cal Gentry has been running all of his
life. He just didn't want to love anybody because if he
did he jinxed him or her. First his parents disappeared
and then his wife is killed in a car crash that nearly
crippled him. All he wants to do is recuperate so he can
go back to racing cars. First he has to find somebody to take care of his
nearly six-month-old daughter, Kaydie since the latest
nanny packed up and headed out when she found they were
staying at a rustic cabin on Gentry land. He's nearly at
his wit's end not knowing why Kaydie is crying one evening
when there's a knock on the door. When Cal opens the door
he finds a beautiful emaciated young woman on the other
side. Cal believes she is there to help him but he can't
understand how she knew that he needed help. Bella Fernandez is on the run. She is a nurse who
helps itinerant families with health care on the border
between Texas and Mexico. She's caught in the middle of a
camp when some evil men drive up to take the illegal aliens
over the border. She's hidden and when they finally reach
their destination, the illegal aliens help her to escape.
That's how she is at Cal's door but Cal can't understand
how they even got on Gentry land. Bella agrees to help out with Kaydie but she knows
her time here is short. Still there's this attraction
between she and Cal that they can't just ignore. They also
have to figure out who is hunting Bella down before it's
too late. This wrap up story of the Gentrys was every bit a
page-turner as the first two stories. It solved all the
mysteries and gave me several satisfactory happy endings. I
thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and look forward to
more stories from Linda Conrad.
