"A quick, sensual read with a gothic feel"
Marie Robb has come to a small town of Gothmoor, Sweden, to
get away from her overbearing father and to find out what
she really wants out of life. She's tired of people only
seeing what's on the outside while not bothering to get to
know what is in her heart. Marie has only been in town for
two days, and already she's gotten a flat tire while lost
on some back road in the middle of the night. Marie
wouldn't have gotten herself into this mess if it wasn't
for that sexy, mysterious man who had been staring at her
at the museum exhibit that she attended tonight. When he
finally spoke to her she felt the sensual reaction all the
way down her spine. She would have done anything to escape
his unnerving presence, so when he gave her directions to a
shortcut that would take her to the Inn where she was
staying, she had listened to him. Marie now has no other
choice but to start walking down the dark, lonely road so
that she can get help. While she's walking along the road,
the same man that she met earlier comes out of the trees
and offers to take her to his home to get out of the storm.
Knowing she's making a mistake but unable to say no, she
lets him lead her to his home. Fredrik Sorebo knows from the first moment he sees Marie
that she is his soul mate. She is the one who will be able
to make him feel alive again, after all these years of
feeling nothing. But can Fredrik persuade Marie to stay
with him when she has heard rumors that he is not to be
trusted? This was a quick, satisfying read. Although the story was
short, the characters were well developed and the story had
a gothic feel that was believable. Fredrik was a dark,
possessive hero. I enjoyed reading about him and finding
out about his tormented past. Marie seemed at first to be
shy and naive, but she developed nicely into a heroine who
made her own choices and didn't let the hero push her
around. The sex scenes were sizzling. Ms. Black does not
disappoint with this story. This story is rated NC17 by the publisher and includes
blunt language, monogamous sex, and oral sex.
