"Intriguing futuristic view of humans with animal instincts."

Jacob -- a wolf/human hybrid -- is the product of an expermental government breeding program. Although bred and trained from birth to use his wolf instincts as a weapon, he's not cruel enough for the scientists who created him.

Faith, a fellow pack mate used for breeding purposes, has been drugged with an aphrodisiac and given to Jacob to impregnate. She and Jacob are attracted to each other but they do not like being forced.

While mating with Faith, Jacob bites her and marks her as his but their sexual act is inturrepted when the laboratory where they live is compromised and all of the breeds escape. During the escape Faith and Jacob are seperated and do not see each other again for six years. As a result of the escape, the government's experiments are exposed to the public. In order to provide a normal life for the animal- hybird humans, they are allowed to live normal lives in "safe" zones away from the general population.

Over their years of separation Jacob never sought to reunite with Faith because he feels guilty for what he considers an act of rape the night they mated. Unknown to Jacob, Faith has suffered in heat for six years because he marked her the night their relationship was consumated. She has also spent the years angry about Jacob's abandonment. While Faith is on a mission for the pack leader they are reunited and sparks fly.

This is Lora Leigh's second story set in the world of the human/animal breeds and is a good read. The story draws the reader in from the first chapter with its unique world and well-developed characters. I found the idea of humans with the uncontrollable sexual instincts of animals most intriguing. I'm looking forward to reading other installments in this world.
