"Not her usual."

The first in a series that Lora Leigh is working on, this is a different style of writing for this author. While the sex scenes have her usual flair, the characters are intense, suspicious, and bitter people, with no happy endings to be found in this installment. All the characters are carrying so much emotional baggage and going through so much, the style was very reminiscent, IMO, of Diana Gabaldon. The readers will have to read future installments in order to find out what happens to everyone, and if the various characters find their soul mates, triumph over the evil, and live happy ever after. Fans of Lora Leigh WILL want to read those installments.

Summary

This is the "prequel" to a four-book series. This story sets up the history of each of the couples who will star in the following books. This book itself does not have a "happily ever after" ending.
