"Well-developed story with a tug on the heartstrings"
Kurt Silverman is a successful orthopedic surgeon, but his
personal life has just gone from bad to worse. His ex-wife
filed to limit his visitation of their son -- and it was
granted, much more drastically than he expected. Now he'll
only get to see him two weeks a year unless he can come up
with another solution. But he works too much, which doesn't
leave much time to spend with his son when he does visit;
he doesn't have alternate care arrangements when
emergencies at work come up; and his apartment is not
suitable for a child, or even clean for that matter. Three
strikes against him. But his lawyer has the perfect
solution...he wants Kurt to get married. That would solve
everything, right? Kurt doesn't seem to think so. Especially not after dinner
with his best friend Shelly has him in a tizzy. Shelly's
older sister found out she has cervical cancer, and just
had a hysterectomy. Although Shelly feels guilty thinking
of herself at a time like this, she can't help but feel
that her biological clock will be prematurely stopped as
well. So she decides she wants a baby -- Kurt's baby. A wonderful, well-developed story with a tug on the
heartstrings. Ms. Jacobs has crafted a hero with many
faults, and a heroine to help him overcome them. Kurt and
Shelly have fantastic chemistry, and Shelly's character is
strong enough to help Kurt grow past his insecurities and
pitfalls. I recommend this magnificent book and look
forward to reading more from Ms. Jacobs!
