"Scorching hot tale, but moves too fast"
While happy for her dear friend Regina and the love she
found with her vampire mate, Missy found herself oddly
uncomfortable at her friend's post-wedding engagement
party. It could have something to do with the outfit her
friends had conned her into wearing, or the fact that they
were determined to set her up on a blind-sex romp. Or there
was the fact that the object of her sexual fantasies, the
charismatic and ultra-sexy Graham Winters, was present. Fed up and determined to escape from whatever fate her
friends had in mind for her, Missy flee into the night and
ran right into her dream lover. After one smell, Graham knew she was something special, and
when he asked her into his bed, he opened the door for
Missy's greatest fantasies to come alive. Feeling herself
entering an almost surreal state, Missy agreed to his
intense proposition and found her life drastically,
sensually, and oddly changing. Everything she had known to
be reality, everything she thought she knew about herself,
became open to new interpretations. To say Christine Warren writes a hot tale would be a
massive understatement. Scorching doesn't even do her
writings justice. FUR FACTOR is hot enough in scenes to
melt one's monitor. But still, I found myself oddly unsatisfied. The hero is a
perfect alpha, determined and demanding, with the knowledge
that his word is law. But Missy leaves a bit to be desired
in a heroine. While she has many reservations about where
her relationship is heading, she seems to give in way too
easily. For someone who is still new to the unfolding
paranormal events in her life, she is too accepting. In
short, she is too submissive. True, a mate to an alpha has
to accept his word over hers, but she would also have to
have a dominant enough streak to lead as well. While Missy
can, and does, show some spunk occasionally, with Graham
she isn't true to her own personality. Another thing that bothered me about the story was how
quickly things moved. While this is a paranormal, it still
asks one to suspend reality a bit too much. Add in the fact that the mind-blowing sex leaves her weak
and sore, although with a smile, and yet they have sex over
and over and over again. Rough, passionate sex, multiple
times a day, after six years of abstinence on her part.
Again, this seems a bit far-fetched. Love the more sex
approach, but this is a bit much. Would I read more of Christine Warren's stories? Yes. I
am considering FANTASY FIX, the novel that goes before FUR
FACTOR, that tells the story of Regina and her vampire
mate. I am curious about the way Regina came to find love. Did I enjoy FUR FACTOR? Kind of. It was an entertaining
read, and almost melted my monitor while I was reading, but
it asked me to overlook a few too many things. Rated: NC 17.

more complicated.
