REVIEW

"Tall, Dark and Losing It"

He is the Dark One, Gregori. Ancient among Carpathian males, he has long wavered between madness and the sun. His only hope lies in the daughter of his Prince, a child he has built an affinity for since before her conception.

Savannah Dubrinsky has grown to womanhood knowing that she will one day become the mate of a deadly powerful and Carpathian male under the grip of passion for the first time in what may well be centuries. Nothing can prepare her for Gregori, the legend that even Carpathians whisper about, or his claiming of her when she is a tender eighteen.

She begs him for time, and he gives it to her, even though such delays in their mating threaten his sanity and existence. Five years later, her time is up -- but she's still not ready to give him her life!

DARK MAGIC is the volume that long-time readers of Feehan's books have waited for. For three novels we've been teased by Gregori's dark sexiness and taunted by small nibbles of his lifemate's growth. Savannah is a spunky heroine, and Gregori is as angsty as he has ever been. The chemistry between them is fierce, but one must really hand it to Ms. Feehan for tackling one of the most difficult concepts of her world -- the claiming, where young Carpathian women are shopped to Carpathian males from around the globe in the hopes of finding a match. Savannah's once-human mother has left her mark on her daughter, and a lot of the book deals with the struggle she faces at being claimed by such a powerful and ancient being as Gregori clearly is. There are, of course, the obligatory vampire hunters and evil vampires out to claim Savannah or kill her (or Gregori) as well. Overall, if you like Feehan's stories, or vampire romances at all, it is great fun, but DARK MAGIC is a Must Buy for fans of the series.

But there was oneGregori, the Dark One--who held her in terrifying thrall. Whose cold silver eyes and heated sensuality sent shivers of danger, of desire, down her slender spine. With a dark magic all his own, Gregori--the implacable hunter, the legendary healer, the most powerful of Carpathian males--whispered in Savannah's mind that he was her destiny.
