"100 pages of excellent plot, characterization, and hot sex!"

Though ostensibly in "protective custody", Tayra, Princess of Glacid, has been held captive by her power-hungry uncle for many months now. During that time, her uncle has been gaining support, steadily usurping her father's rule since his mysterious disappearance, and inciting war against the people of the planet Sark. Tayra decides the only solution is to escape.

She runs straight into the arms of the Sark Lord Chancellor Aaxis Thrane, her enemy -- or is he? Despite Aaxis's allegiance to Sark, Tayra sees that Aaxis is an honorable man, though too commanding for her royal taste. Aaxis, for his part, finds the princess of the ice world to be extremely sexy, if a bit over-haughty.

Of course, being the brilliant strategist that Aaxis is, the princess's escape into his arms is not merely a fortuitous occurrence, but rather the culmination of months of planning. His plan was to kidnap her, impregnate her, and thus force peace between the warring planets with a political marriage. The only snag? Though Tayra is at her peak time for conception, Glacidian women can only conceive when they peak -- Aaxis can't merely take her; he must somehow manage to make Tayra orgasm.

This was an interesting premise, and boy, did I enjoy watching the results of Aaxis's crafty mind. Of course, both h/h are extremely stubborn, each trying to win a contest of wills. He, at first, has no wish to be enslaved by his desires, wanting only for a political marriage, while she will accept nothing less than love. The result is quite a few hot, emotional love scenes.

Aaxis is totally sexy and oh-so-alpha, while Tayra is his perfect match with her bravery and sharp wits. The storyline was also compelling, with a detailed plot and the development of several planets with a complex and interesting history. The cultures of the planets were also rich and fascinating. Oh, and did I forget to mention this is a short story? Hard to believe that so much plot, characterization, and hot sex could be contained in only 100 pages, but it's true. Pick up ICY HOT and see if I tell a tale!
