Tess Delacourte is awakened on a Saturday morning by her father's voice on her answering machine, reminding her of his party this week. Although she loves her father, she never got along with his new wife, Missy. But that isn't why she's hesitant to stay for a week in the house she grew up in. She knows that Cole, Missy's brother, will be there. Cole wants her, and told her so, very descriptively, over two years ago. He's tired of waiting, and she's not so sure she wants to resist. She's heard the rumors of him having a wicked, dominant, hedonistic way in bed, but she still wants him, loves him in spite of the stories. Only she's afraid to give in, fearing that she'll turn into the type of person her mother accuses her of being. Can Tess overcome her past and make a decision for her future that suits HER needs? Or will she end up with a broken heart?

This is such an intricate, emotional book for its length (84 pages). The description of Tess's "reclusive" mother and "outgoing" father help the reader to understand the struggle that Tess is going through. Her strength helps her to confront her fears, as well as enable her to stand up to her mother's disapproval. Her relationship with Cole progresses as her trust in him develops, and her hesitancy makes her character believable.
