"Characters Make This Dark Erotic Romance Come to Life"
He is a mystery -- a man of many disguises and many faces.
He is danger incarnate, and more than human. He lives for
vengeance, and nothing more. He is Kye. She is alone. She battles for control of her life, and for
the lives of those who suffer beneath the monster's thumb.
She is Tali. First they fight and then they love. Though each intrigues
the other, both Kye and Tali carry dark secrets. If they
join the fight together, they may win, but can either
wounded warrior dare to hope -- or love -- again? Burke's skills at creating outrageous, loveable, larger-
than-life characters shine in this darkly romantic erotic
read. From exotic costumes (including a lot of leather) to
the sex and music of the club scene, Kye and Tali rock and
fight their way into the reader's heart. Outrageous
secondary characters flesh out the darkness of Burke's
world. The darkness is oppressing, almost depressing. The
evil vampire's savagery is explicit, sometimes gruesome.
(This book is not for a faint-hearted reader.) The hero and
heroine's sexual attraction burns the pages, but the fast-
moving, ass-kicking plot doesn't falter for a minute. The
romance seems to linger in subtext, more than thrusting
itself in the reader's face, and the sexual content rating
seems to stem more from explicitness than from frequency of
the sexual acts, but fans of dark fantasy novels (a la
Laurell K Hamilton especially) will enjoy this richly
textured story. Sensuality Level: THE SLAYER has been rated Hard NC-17 by
the publisher.
