"a promising beginning to a career"
Riella's cousin Benir has been sentenced to death for
treason against Riella's father, the king -- a crime he was
innocent of, and which Riella's father Ro did not wish to
punish him for. Knowing her cousin was innocent, Riella was
willing to risk all to save him. She had to help him escape. Everything was going according to her plan, until General
Tolerin stops her on her way back to her quarters. Dressed
as a soldier, her disguise passed all distance inspections,
but up close, Tolerin unmasked her for a woman. Believing
her to be one of Ro's harem of women, he claims his right a
night of passion in her arms. He never suspected her to be
Ro's daughter. Upon finding out his beloved Deliya is actually Ro's
daughter he is infuriated. His feisty lover made him a
fool, and a traitor. Only by convincing her to be his
wife, can he escape Ro's wrath ... and have a chance at
happiness. SCHENTE NIGHT is the Extasy Books debut of author Brenna
Lyons. As such, there are a few imperfections" to the
writings itself. The storyline flows well and the
characters respond true to their mold, but there is a vague
roughness to the writing that only practice can smooth
out. The author's talent is promising and she has passed
the first few major hurdles. A plot that flows, characters
staying true to themselves, and dialog that doesn't sound
forced. Everything else will smooth itself out in time. Future books to this series, as well as others, are
definitely looked forward to.
