"Wild ride of a romantic space opera."
Captain Tasha "Sass" Sebastian runs the Triad huntership
Vaxxar -- and copes with the irritating attitude and
presence of Admiral Branden Kel-Paten. Kel-Paten is cyber-
enhanced: artificial limbs with super strength, a
programmed super-smart brain, able to link himself into
computer networks -- and supposedly has little in the way
of human emotions. Sass's irreverent attitude and not-by-
the-book behavior does not meet with Admiral's approval,
and they clash frequently. Sass is supported by her best
friend (and frequent co-conspirator in trouble), Chief
Medical Officer Eden Flynn, who is an empath. Right now,
Eden is angry and frustrated that the Admiral has insisted
they go hunting an escaped space pirate named Jace
Serafino, when the doctor wants to go in the opposite
direction to investigate a deadly new virus. Jace and his crew are captured when their ship is severely
damaged. However, Jace is injured and not immediately
available for interrogation by his hated adversary, Admiral
Kel-Paten. Dr. Flynn's medical care turns up some
fascinating and frightening information about the pirate
and how he is involved in intergalactic politics, even as
she is drawn into a telepathic relationship with him. Sass
and Eden find themselves very much at odds with the
Admiral's plans, and take steps to help Jace. They also
discover Kel-Paten's secret files, and his true feelings
for Sass -- something that she is not ready to cope with. Some very unexpected events lead to the unlikely foursome
ending up on a wild space adventure. They are thrown into
an unknown part of their universe -- or perhaps even an
alternate universe? Their shuttle craft crashes on a planet
set in a medieval-ish time, they have to conceal their true
identities from the populace, and they have to track down
the malevolent "wizard" that is menacing them. Along the
way, can they sort out their personal relationships? Can
people who hate each other -- and those who are trying to
decide if they love each other -- work together to save
themselves? This story has been described as a "space opera". It's
action-packed, fast moving, exciting, and original. The
plot jumps through various locations and times, keeping the
reader continually guessing about what's going on. The
characters grab you and you can't wait to find out what is
going on in their minds, where their relationships are
headed. I strongly recommend this story to all who enjoy
either science fiction romance or science fiction with a
strong dash of humor. One warning: The last sentence in the book is: "To be
continued in . . . COMMAND DECISION by Linnea Sinclair
coming soon to an intergalactic bookstore near you!"
Aargh! Yes, this book ends on a cliffhanger! The sequel,
which presumably will start where COMMAND PERFORMANCE left
off, is scheduled for release in August 2003.

SummaryRECIPE FOR AN INTERGALACTIC GOOD TIME:
Take one unorthodox space fleet captain, whose well-earned
nickname is Sass, and her side-kick CMO, Doc Eden Fynn. Add
evil aliens, a secret mission and a pinch of Jace Serafino,
a very sexy pirate who knows more than he's telling. He
just can't remember what it is he knows. Drop in a dose of
Admiral Branden Kel-Paten, a handsome, lovesick half-human
cyborg, who's also Sass's Commanding Officer. Mix well.
Sprinkle liberally with trouble, toss through a time warp.
Add two stowaway furzels and more evil aliens for spice.
Heat and stand back. Anything could happen. Just about
everything does.
COMMAND PERFORMANCE. Is this anyway to run a universe?
