"a quick, steamy, satisfying read"
Newly divorced, Lynne Temple is on her way to start her new
life in West Virginia when she gets lost on the roads of
the Appalachian Mountains. It's the middle of the night and
she's trying to decide whether or not to turn around and
try to find her way back to the main highway when she sees
a man in the middle of the road. Swerving her car so as not
to hit him, she crashes into a tree and passes out. She
comes to and realizes that the man she almost hit is
fugitive and convicted serial rapist and murderer, Jesse
Redshaw. Recovering from a concussion in Jesse's secluded
cabin, she realizes that she'll have to do anything to
please Jesse and to keep him happy in order to stay alive
while she finds a way to escape him. Jesse Redshaw has no plans to harm his beautiful captive.
He is on the run from the law, but he knows that no one
will believe him, especially Lynne, whom he's come to care
about. But telling Lynne that he has no plans to harm her
is kind of hard when she's constantly throwing herself at
him. Jesse decides to take what Lynne offers and save the
talking for later. When he does finally let Lynne know that
she's safe with him, Lynne is confused and upset with
herself for enjoying what they've shared and doesn't know
what to believe about Jesse. Is he capable of raping and
murdering innocent women? How can she have feelings for a
man she doesn't know she can trust? Reading this book was very enjoyable for me. The sex scenes
were plentiful and hot, the characters were very likable
and believable. I wished the book was a little bit longer
so I could spend a little more time with the characters,
but the length did not get in the way of the developing
story. The relationship issues and conflicts were resolved
in a way that was believable to me. I felt that I got to
know enough about the characters to satisfy me and I
finished reading this book with a smile on my face. I
highly recommend this book if you want a quick, steamy,
satisfying read. This is the second Jaid Black book that
I've read and I'll be sure to read more. There is some light bondage in the book and no mention of
birth control. I counted about 5 explicit scenes, which I
felt was just right for the length of the book.
